Free Online Assistive Technology Modules

The following free modules on assistive technology are available for free and cover a wide range of categories within assistive technology. These modules are an opportunity for anyone to complete, whether you or a loved on have assistive technlogy needs, are involved in general or special educaiton, work indirect services for individuals with developmental disabilities, or a member of the community that dsires to learn more about assistive technology. The modules differ in duration depending on the organization and specific topic. All of the links to each website will be included in the heading of each section.

IRIS Center (Vanderbilt University) AT Module

This 2.5 hour module goes through an overview of assistive technology primarily for students with learning disabilities and ADHD and serves as a guide for consideration, implementation, and evaluation of assistive technology.

OCALI Assistive Technology Internet Modules 

This website contains over 50 assistive technology related modules covering various assistive technology needs from childhood to adulthood, ranging 1-2 hours per module. You will need to create an account to access the modules, which is entirely free to do so. 

World Health Organization TAP (Training in Assistive Products) 

This website contains 15 modules that cover assistive technology in mobility, vision, self care, and emergencies. The modules range from 1-4 hours in length. You will need to create an account to access these modules, which is free to do. 

The Open University Assistive technologies and online learning

This online course spans 8 hours and covers an overview on assistive technology, built-in assistive technology, specialist assistive technology, student voices on assistive technology, and more. This website also requires you to create a free account to access the course.
